In the Gospel of John, Mary Magdalene encounters the risen Jesus but does not recognize him at first. She mistakes him for a gardener until he calls her by name. This moment marks her as the first witness to the Resurrection and reverses the story of Eden where Mary drinks of Living Water.

The image depicts a scary, stormy sky which never-theless brings rainfall from heaven - the gift of water that sustains and nourishes all living things. In the beginning the Spirit moved over the waters at Creation, and water became a powerful symbol of salvation throughout the Scriptures.
